Synopsis: Scabrous drama about the carnival-like atmosphere that develops around a man trapped in a cave and the unscrupulous reporter who tries to profit from the situation. A misfire when it was first released, the film is now acknowledged as a classic for its acid dialogue, spot-on characterizations, and prescient rendering of media-obsessed society.
