Synopsis: Standing regally in New York harbor, Lady Liberty has been a beacon of hope to impoverished immigrants for more than 100 years. This History Channel documentary recounts the story of how the statue -- an engineering marvel then and now -- was created in France. Rare footage and archival photos document the cutting-edge methods the French devised for shaping this massive sculpture and transporting it to its new home in America.
